Maple Skies & Chocolate Whispers

This was written to welcome the autumn season.

Maple Skies & Chocolate Whispers

1

Rain taps gently on the cottage glass,

As golden leaves through the forest pass.

Maple leaves curl like parchment old,

Stories of autumn in hues of gold.

Canadian geese cry overhead in flight,

Their V-shaped tales etch fading light.

2

A crack of lightning cleaves the cloud,

Nature’s applause both fierce and proud.

The bunnies scatter ‘neath cedar trees,

Noses twitching in trembling leaves.

Yet near the logs, a bonfire glows,

Where warmth from within the ember flows.

3

The bunnies gather near the flame,

In fluffy cloaks with names untame.

Chocolate fountains bubble and stream,

Dipping fruit into caramel dream.

Twitching whiskers and cotton tails,

Dance in the night as laughter sails.

4

The rain returns with softer grace,

Bath bombs fizz in their sacred place.

Vanilla swirls with lavender air,

Enchanting steam with tender care.

Each drop a balm, a whispered hymn,

Washing the ache from soul and limb.

5

Beneath a quilt of stars now spun,

Autumn declares its race is run.

The bunnies return with quiet tread,

Drawn to crumbs and firelight’s thread.

A leaf, a pawprint, a fading spark,

Etch their memory into the dark.

6

So let the geese call and thunder roll,

Let cocoa soothe and stories console.

Maple skies and bonfire hearts,

Mark where the wilderness gently parts.

For autumn speaks in scents and signs,

Of endings sweet and sacred times.
